Where is my lip chap?

Happy 2012! I know this is kindof late and I haven't updated in quite sometime... sorry.

I am back and started my last semester of law school. It is crazy how fast time flies. I can still vividly recall when I started 1L year. All the nerves, anxiety, stress. Still ever present, but to a certain degree, a little less. I am taking some really interesting classes - criminal procedure, law of armed conflict, business associations, and professional responsibility. Oh yeah, I'm also taking a skiing class. And possibly a golf class. Got to end the last year of school (possibly forever?) with a bang! :)

And to top it off, I just booked a flight for my graduation travels! I initially wanted to do Europe but not enough funds. And then I thought about an eastern tour of Canada with a side trip to Boston. But that didn't work out. Vancouver, Banff, and an Alaskan cruise were also contemplated and researched. But I eventually decided on Hawaii. Oahu for four days and Maui for six. Yes. A group of law students are going so it should be super fun! I don't think I have ever been on a tropical, relaxing type of vacation. Most of mine have been all about touring, seeing sites etc. Granted I want to do touristy things like visit Pearl Harbor, the Polynesian Center, a volcano (?), I will definitely be beach bum, snorkeling and surfing. Ah. Sounds blissful.

Anyways, I hope you are doing well - whomever you are. Happy New Year! I hope this year will bring everything you hoped and dreamed of.

Why is law school so hard at times?

Why?!?!

FTW

I just emailed my classmates and professor my draft to my disaster law paper. Twenty-four pages! What what! For some reason, this paper wasn't as painful as my substantial writing paper last semester. Hmm. I have no idea why.

Oh and mom and dad got me a PS3 for Christmas. You may ask why and how I know since it's not even December. But there was a killer deal on Amazon over Black Friday so yeah. Nerd alert? Yeah. Probably. Especially considering the title of my blog post. Hah.

Okay, going to bed now but not slowing down (in respect to school). Night!

Gratitude

I am currently working on a paper for my disaster law class. I just finished my intro to pandemics section and am now researching my terrorism section. BAH. So sad. So incredibly sad. Specifically, the deliberate acts of 19 extremists on September 11. I can still recall where I was when I heard about the attacks - in science class. This boy named Brad P came into the room and shouted "the CN Tower is next!" Um, I don't think so. Nevertheless, reading about it now as opposed to an adolescent changes things. I have a different perspective. A more mature and thoughtful point of view. Especially now that I live in America. It's just so sad. Terrorism is crap.

Not to diminish the horrendous nature of the act but a country must be pretty important for a group to direct and plan such dreadful attacks. I don't know if I am conveying that statement correctly. Essentially, the U.S. is pretty much the top dog. Why else would it be targeted? Yes, there may be other factors but unfortunately this country is considered a threat to some. Yet, a little over ten years later, it is still an incredible country. So much resilience.

Anyways, I don't have time to write about all my feelings. But considering it is the Thanksgiving season in the U.S., I thought I would say I am grateful for this country. Even though I absolutely love my country and this sort of patriotism is surprising to me, the U.S. is pretty incredible. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to receive all my post-secondary education in this country, all the American friends I have made, and the freedoms and liberties this country so dutifully advocates and protects.

Happy Thanksgiving all!

It has begun... again

Stress. I'm currently in comfy sweats, at my carrel, working in the law library. This started much much earlier last semester but I think 16 credit hours was a contributing factor. To be honest, I am very bummed Nikki isn't here with me.. We used to have such successful study/work nights. It's kindof lonely to be here too. Oh well.

So I randomly told my friend Rachel how I like when people wink at me. Not creeper winking I am hitting on you gross winking, of course. But natural winking. Yes. Confident, smooth, natural winking. Tehehe.

That's all. If I am MIA, please find me at school. Thanks.

My carrel at the time I wrote this post.

11.11.11

It's November 11, 2011. Woot woot! I spent the majority of my day at H&M's Grand Opening at Fashion Place Mall. I left my house a little after six, got in line before 7 and waited for the doors to open at 12. It was great! I had some much needed cousin time, made some new friends with strangers, and bought significantly discounted H&M goodies (i.e. $20 peacoat, $10 pencil skirts). Oh I also got $10 off and a free H&M <3s UTAH shirt for being among the first 500 in line.

Now you may ask, was it worth it? Sure. Obviously waking up early and waiting outside in the cold is not ideal but I love doing things like this. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I grew up with Boxing Day adventures? Now that takes dedication. Long lines on December 26 in Canada is much much colder. However, I think I will sit out on the Black Friday shopping this year. Maybe.

Anyways, Michelle and I also decided that if we are both single on Valentine's Day next year, we are going to watch The Vow together. This was decided on 11/11/11.

Okay. Back to school work on a Friday night.

Department of the Interior

I don't think I mentioned it before but I am currently externing at the Department of the Interior. Due to certain confidential papers I signed, I am unable to discuss specific things... but I just wanted to say I LOVE IT. I recently had a really wonderful experience that was immensely fulfilling and exciting. My legal education is being put to use! It is absolutely incredible to study something for so long and so hard and see application of it in my personal life. FTW.

P.S. Isn't it great that if Prince William and Kate Middleton had a baby girl, that girl could someday be the Queen? Yes. Awesome.
